About the South Shore Brass Band

The South Shore Brass Band, conducted by Charles Mann, is a professional musical organization based in northwest Indiana along the south shore of Lake Michigan and composed of 28 performing musicians including cornets, flugel horn, tenor and baritone horns, euphoniums, trombones, tubas, and percussion dedicated to the public performance of all genres of music.

The South Shore Brass Band has attracted some of the finest musicians from around the south shore and south Chicago region to provide the highest quality musical performances. In order to maintain this quality, the band pays performers with funds acquired from donations and performance revenues.

The South Shore Brass Band is also dedicated to providing educational opportunities to students from the south shore region by providing a limited number of exceptional student performers the opportunity to audition for and play alongside the professional members of the band to provide these students with quality professional performance experience. In addition, the band endeavors to provide, when reasonably financially possible, special arts educational opportunities for students in the south shore region to hear performances by providing, for example, specially funded concerts at local schools, reduced price student admission tickets to general events, and other educational outreach activities.

The South Shore Brass Band is presented by the South Shore Performing Arts Co., an Indiana non-profit corporation located at 533 Park Ave., Chesterton, Indiana 46304. The South Shore Performing Arts Co. is a tax exempt organization under I.R.C. 501(c)(3). Donations to the company are tax exempt under I.R.C. 170.
